For a young person to thrive, they have to believe they can succeed. The drums are a powerful social emotional tool to teach abut teamwork, respect and community.
Kids naturally want to show off, and also to have a sense of belonging.

Understanding that we are stronger together than we are by ourselves is one of life's more important lessons. In todays culture of "stuff", where kids are worrying about who has what latest gadget or widget - it is refreshing to see everyone come together for a common purpose - FUN!!
Respect
We have been lucky to drum with kids from all different backgrounds, and come to realize that the children are the real teachers. We believe they will succeed, even when they don't. We reinforce the value of every person in our group as well as kindness - especially to ourselves!
Community
No matter who you are or how you feel when you start drumming - you always feel better and more connected when you are done.
Music doesn't care where you are from, or what color your skin is. Music doesn't care what you drive, or where you live. It doesn't matter who you worship, or who you love - we can all drum together.
